Michaël Thys has diverse work experience in various roles and industries. Michaël started their career as a professional handball player at VfL Handball Gummersbach GmbH from July 2004 to June 2005. After that, they joined Vlaamse Handbalvereniging as an elite coach and team coach for handball, where they worked from 2005 to 2020. Concurrently, they also served as a national coach and team coach for canoe polo at Vlaamse Kano & Kajak Federatie from 2015 to 2019.

In 2006, Michaël joined MENARINI Group, where they worked for a long time till 2020. Michaël started as an Account Manager from July 2006 to September 2012 and later became a District Sales Manager from October 2012 to July 2020. Currently, they are working as the Country Manager Belgium at Hiflow (Expedicar) since July 2020. This extensive experience in sales, coaching, and management showcases Michaël's expertise in various fields.

Michaël Thys obtained a Master's degree in Physical education and sports management from Ghent University, completing their studies from 2002 to 2006.
