Dana Portenier

Clinical Advisor Bariatric Surgery at Higgs Boson

Dr. Portenier attended medical school at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina and completed his residency at Providence Hospital in Southfield Michigan in general surgery.

He has advanced fellowship training in hepatopancreaticobiliary surgery with rotations at the Mayo Clinic, as well as Memorial Sloan Kettering and NHS in Leeds, England. His second fellowship was at Duke University in Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery. He joined the Duke faculty after his fellowship and has been on the team ever since. He currently serves as Division Chief of the Metabolic and Weight Loss Surgery Division and the Chair of Surgery at Duke Regional Hospital.
