Joe Velk

Joe Velk has over 30 years of venture investing and company building experience. Most recently, he was CEO of ShiftWizard, a venture backed healthcare IT company acquired by HealthStream. Before forming Contender Capital, he was a partner with The North Carolina Enterprise Fund and Intersouth Partners. He has been involved with over 50 companies which include: Efficient Channel Coding (acquired by ViaSat); Inlet Technologies (acquired by Systems); Modality (acquired by Epocrates); Orologic (acquired by Vitesse Semiconductor); PowerPrecise Solutions (acquired by Texas Instruments); and RF Micro Devices (now Qorvo).

Joe received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and his MBA from Duke University.
