Douglas Pursel has 35 years of experience in industrial automation and controls, handling all sized projects from start to finish. Douglas began their career in 1985 as an Instrumentman 3rd Class in the US Navy. In 1988, they joined USG as an Electrical Supervisor/Engineering Technician, providing maintenance and troubleshooting expertise for a variety of systems. In 1996, they joined International Paper as an Area Maintenance Manager Electrical & Fluff, increasing the reliability of mill process equipment and executing quarterly and major outages. Douglas also served as an E/I Technician/Process Control, specializing in the computer automation of the mill's well and effluent systems. In 2019, they joined Highground Services, Inc. as a Lead E/I Technician, providing instrumentation & electrical troubleshooting, repair, calibration, and programming support for a wide range of manufacturing installations.
Douglas Pursel obtained an Associate's Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from ITT Technical Institute-Fort Wayne between 1992 and 1994. Douglas also attended the United States Navy's Instrumentman Class A School between 1985 and 1986, studying Instrumentation Technology/Technician. In 2009, they were awarded a Master Electrician certification from the Virginia Department of Occupational Regulation.
