Susan Charland

Susan Charland is the Chief Operating Officer at HIGHLAND PLANNING. Susan has over 10 years of experience in the field of community and regional planning. Susan specializes in comprehensive and strategic planning, economic development analysis and policy development, policy analysis, meeting facilitation, and creative public engagement techniques.

Prior to their current position, Susan was a Program Manager & Detroit Revitalization Fellow with the Downtown Detroit Partnership, where they advocated for a clean, safe, and economically viable Downtown Detroit community. Susan also has experience as a Project Manager with ECONorthwest, where they managed economic and land use planning projects.

Susan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Michigan.

Susan Charland has a Master's degree in Community and Regional Planning from the University of Oregon. Susan also has a certification from the American Planning Association in American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP). Additionally, they have certifications from IAP2 USA in Facilitation, Foundations for Public Participation, and Techniques for Public Participation.

Their manager is Tanya Mooza Zwahlen, AICP, Principal and Owner. They are on a team with Anne Stinson - Marketing Associate, Nancy Raca - Director of Engagement, and Brooke Mayer - Customer Success Manager.
