Strategic Planning and Development Associate at HiiROC

Gemma La Guardia has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Gemma is currently working as a Strategic Planning and Development Associate at HiiROC since June 2023. Prior to this, they worked at Guidehouse as a Senior Consultant and later as a Consultant in the Energy, Sustainability, and Infrastructure sector from August 2021 to June 2023. During their time at Guidehouse, they led communication efforts for the European Hydrogen Backbone and managed multiple stakeholders.

Before joining Guidehouse, Gemma served as the Strategy and Communications Lead at the Climate Investment Challenge, a student-run pitch competition focused on developing financial solutions to mitigate climate change. Gemma held this position from September 2020 to June 2023 and successfully managed the competition sponsored by renowned firms such as Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners, Candriam, and Standard Chartered.

Gemma also gained experience at Quilliam as a Researcher and Executive Assistant to the CEO from February 2019 to July 2020. Gemma managed projects in Nigeria and the UK, organized logistics, and presented at annual fundraising galas. Additionally, they volunteered at Salusbury World Refugee Support from September 2018 to February 2019.

Prior to that, Gemma worked as a Student Consultant with the OECD at Campus The Hague Leiden University from February 2018 to May 2018, where they led a project on flood resilience in overseas territories. Gemma formulated policy recommendations for the OECD and conducted research on communications and infrastructure.

Gemma's early work experience includes roles such as Writer and Cover Artist at BAISmag from March 2017 to May 2018, Vice President of the BASIS Sports Committee from September 2016 to July 2017, and Volunteer at Nataba'del from January 2016 to December 2016. Gemma also interned at Thomson Reuters in July 2013.

Gemma La Guardia's education history begins in 2016 when they attended Bethlehem University for a period of one year. During this time, they studied the Spoken Palestinian Arabic language. In 2015, they enrolled at Leiden University and pursued a degree in International Studies with a focus on Middle Eastern Studies, specifically Arabic and Hebrew. Gemma completed their studies at Leiden University in 2018. In 2017, Gemma participated in an Erasmus Exchange program at Tel Aviv University, where they focused on Sustainability Studies. Finally, in 2020, they joined Imperial College Business School to pursue a degree in Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Management, specializing in Entrepreneurship/Entrepreneurial Studies. Gemma completed their studies at Imperial College Business School in 2021.
