Chris Plunkett has a diverse work experience in corporate communications and public affairs. Starting in 2003, they worked as a Foreign Service Officer at the Department of Foreign Affairs until 2007. Chris then served as a Second Secretary at the Permanent Mission of Canada to the United Nations from 2007 to 2011. Following that, they joined the Embassy of Canada in Washington, DC as a Counsellor (Public Affairs) and Spokesperson, leading a team in media relations and digital diplomacy until 2013. From 2013 to 2019, they worked at Communitech, initially as the Director of Media Relations, then as the Director of External Relations, and later as the Vice President of External Relations. In 2019, they joined OpenText as the Vice President of Corporate Communications, a position they held until 2021. Currently, they are the Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications + Advisory at Hill+Knowlton Strategies, starting in 2022.

Chris Plunkett obtained a Bachelor's degree in Commerce from Queen's University, where they studied from 1998 to 2002.
