Annie Makela serves as the Founding Director of the Scott Center for Social Entrepreneurship at Hillbrook School since July 2017, where responsibilities include designing and implementing a social entrepreneurship program for JK-8 students, developing community partnerships, and sharing the center's work with broader audiences. In addition, Annie has been part of the Summer Staff for The Aspen Institute since 2012, focusing on speaker management for the Aspen Ideas Festival. As a co-founder of Impact.Ed Community from January 2018 to May 2023, Annie contributed to enhancing social impact learning initiatives. Previous roles include Associate Director of Strategic Initiatives at the Center for Social Impact Learning at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies from 2014 to 2017, a 2nd Grade Co-Teacher at Greenwich Country Day School, and involvement in launching the Center for Social Entrepreneurship at Middlebury College. Annie's early career included curating TEDxMiddlebury and working in various hospitality and event roles. Annie holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and Spanish from Middlebury College.
