Naomi Shapiro

Senior Director Of Strategic Philanthropy at Hillel

Naomi Shapiro has a strong background in nonprofit and philanthropic work. Naomi is currently working as the Senior Director of Strategic Philanthropy at Hillel International. Prior to that, they served as the Director of Institutional Advancement at the Chicago Jewish Day School from 2017 to 2023. Before that, they were a Program Manager at the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago, overseeing the Create a Jewish Legacy program from 2014 to 2017. Naomi also held the position of North American Director at Shorashim from 2011 to 2014. Naomi began their career at Birthright Israel NEXT as the Director of Birthright Israel NEXT Chicago, where they worked from 2008 to 2011. Prior to that, they worked as the Assistant Director of Events at the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago from 2004 to 2008. Naomi also has experience in event management, working as an Event Manager for Blair Hull for US Senate in 2004. Naomi began their career as a Communications Associate and Event Coordinator at the Embassy of Israel - Office of the Ambassador from 2002 to 2003.

Naomi Shapiro pursued their education with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Sociology and Hebrew at the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 1997 to 2001. In 1999 to 2000, they attended The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, specifically the Rothberg International School. Naomi then went on to obtain a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Psychology with a concentration in Organizational Leadership from The Chicago School between 2010 and 2012.
