Axel Schmitz

Axel Schmitz has extensive work experience in the aviation industry. Axel is currently the Director of Business Development at Hillsboro Aero Academy since December 2021. Prior to that, they served as the Managing Director at Heliescuela (by Airbus Helicopters) from January 2017 to March 2020. In this role, they were responsible for strategy and business development, portfolio management, and leading a cross-functional team. Before that, they worked at Airbus Helicopters as a Sales Manager from 2013 to March 2020, where they handled new aircraft sales, support services, and marketing. Axel also worked as a Project Manager at Airbus Helicopters (previously Eurocopter) from 2006 to 2013, overseeing new aircraft completion, project management, and special projects execution.

Axel Schmitz completed their Management Programme D-1 at the IPADE Business School from 2017 to 2018. Prior to that, they attended the ICAMI - Management school from 2007 to 2008, focusing on Management & Leadership development. In 2003, they studied Computer Aided Design & Engineering at the Ecole Supérieure des Techniques Aéronautiques et de Construction Automobile. Axel received their Dipl-Ing (FH) in Aeronautical Engineering from Aachen University of Applied Sciences - FH Aachen, where they studied from 1999 to 2005. In addition to their educational background, Axel Schmitz obtained the Certified Aviation Manager (CAM) certification from the National Business Aviation Association in December 2020.
