David Thames is a highly experienced professional in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) with a career spanning over two decades. Currently serving as Corporate GIS Manager at Historic England since July 2019, David previously held roles as GIS Data Officer at the National Trust and Principal GIS Analyst within the Queensland Government Department of Environment and Science. Additional experience includes positions as Senior GIS Analyst for the Queensland Government Department of Environment and Heritage Protection, GIS Cartographer at Hema Maps, and various roles at the UK Hydrographic Office, including HDB1D Manager. David began their career as a Digital Map Editor at Simmons Aerofilms and as a Digital Cartographer at the Farming and Rural Conservation Agency. David holds a Master of Science degree in Sustainable Environmental Management from the University of Plymouth and a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography and Topographic Science from Swansea University.
