Anne Schmidt is an experienced professional in the field of historic buildings and conservation. Currently serving as Content Officer, Technical Officer, and Outreach Officer at Historic Environment Scotland since June 2017, Anne focuses on connecting the public to traditional skills, materials, and the conservation of historic buildings. Previous roles include an internship at Scottish Lime Centre Trust where data management and analysis of historic mortar were key responsibilities, as well as a planning caseworker position at York Civic Trust. Early experience includes internships at Landesdenkmalpflege Rheinland-Pfalz and Historic Building Restoration, where hands-on conservation skills were developed. Anne has also played a significant organizational role as Vice-Chairperson for the Inter Varsity Folk Dance Festival Edinburgh and contributed to historic research at the Scottish Historic Buildings Trust. Academic qualifications include a Master’s Degree in Conservation Studies from the University of York and a Master’s Degree in Architectural History from the University of Edinburgh.
