Helen Macqueen

Manager, Archives Operations at History Factory

Helen Macqueen is currently a staff archivist at Theirtory Factory. Prior to that, they worked as a museum technician at the National Museum of Health and Medicine from September 2016 to June 2019. There, they gained experience with inventorying, rehousing, condition reporting, storing, and moving collections items. From September 2015 to March 2020, they worked as a collections technician at the Fairfax Museum and Visitor Center, where they worked closely with the curator to prepare objects for exhibit as well as accession objects into the Past Perfect system. Helen's first museum experience was an internship at the Port Austin Theirtory Museum in June 2012 to August 2012, where they were responsible for helping with the initial setup of the museum. During their time there, they helped organize items, learned Past Perfect software, and taught others how to use it. Helen also helped create displays for items as well as designing their own displays. Before working in museums, Helen worked as a line worker at Flexfab, LLC from June 2011 to August 2011 and as a cashier at Kmart Corporation from June 2010 to August 2010.

Helen Macqueen has a Master's Degree in Museum Studies from The George Washington University, a Bachelor's degree in Sociology and Anthropology from Olivet College, and a certification from LinkedIn in Turning Weaknesses into Strengths. Helen also has a certification from the Academy of Certified Archivists in Certified Archivist (CA), as well as certifications from SheCodes in SheCodes Plus and SheCodes Basics. Finally, they have a certification from LinkedIn in Word Tips and Tricks.

Their manager is Chris Juhasz, Managing Archivist. They are on a team with Nikole Delosier - Consulting Archivist, Alex Johnson - Staff Archivist, and Tracy Ulmer - Senior Archivist.
