Data Engineer at Hive Streaming

Achilleas Stefanidis has work experience in various roles and companies. Achilleas started their career in 2017 as a Web Developer at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, where they contributed to the development of web tools for a European research project.

In 2019, Achilleas worked as a Computer Science Teaching Assistant at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, where they provided assistance and examined programming assignments for a distributed systems course.

From 2020 to present, Achilleas has been working at Hive Streaming. Achilleas started as a Junior Backend Engineer, learning about reliable and scalable systems, implementing microservices in Scala, and deploying them using Azure DevOps. Achilleas also focused on building a monitoring ecosystem using tools like Kibana, Prometheus, Grafana, and PagerDuty. Currently, they hold the position of Data Engineer, responsible for building the backbone for analytics products, transforming raw data into valuable insights using the medallion architecture.

Achilleas Stefanidis holds a Master's degree in Software Engineering of Distributed Systems from KTH Royal Institute of Technology, which they obtained between 2018 and 2020. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor's degree in Information Systems at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), from 2013 to 2017. Additionally, they have obtained several certifications including a Driving Licence from the Greek Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport in 2014, and a Certificate of Proficiency in English (C2) from the University of Michigan in 2011.
