James T. Haines

Mr. James T. “Jim” Haines is the Chief Operating Officer of H&K Group, Inc. (H&K), one of the Mid-Atlantic Region’s largest privately-owned and operated heavy civil construction and construction materials companies. H&K will celebrate a half-century of business excellence in 2018.

Jim Haines is the second eldest son of John B. Haines IV, founder and acting Co-Chairman of the Board of H&K. Jim entered the corporation in 1980 and through the years has continued to establish himself as a born leader, articulate communicator, and man of intense focus and innate business savvy.

As with his siblings and business partners, Jim entered the corporation at a young age and immediately immersed himself in the family business from the ground up. Having held virtually every position on the heavy civil construction side of the corporation from field labor through regional business oversight, Jim naturally gravitated toward his current role in 2007, when he was appointed as Chief Operating Officer. Since this time, Jim has continued to hone both his skills and persona as a well-rounded, highly perceptive contemporary leader.

Jim states his ongoing life and business mission to be one of continued business strength through a firm commitment to unity within the corporate family. Because of his forward-thinking identity, Jim has remained dedicated to innovation, technology, and workforce training. Jim is also deeply dedicated to serving the community on both a personal and a professional level and is intent on striving to help those living with Autism achieve both their personal goals and as high a degree of independence as possible; Jim’s son Matt lives with Autism and is currently employed by The H&K Group.
