Michael Miano has a diverse work experience spanning over 26 years. Michael began their career as an Audit Assistant at Wachira Irungu and Associates and Dominion Consultants, where they developed their financial accounting skills. Michael then worked as a Financial Accountant at the same firm before moving on to join Colgate Palmolive as an Assistant Accountant.

At Colgate Palmolive, Miano rapidly progressed through various roles, including Budget Manager and Finance Manager, where they managed finance teams across multiple countries. Michael successfully implemented SAP accounting and Omicron accounting system, receiving recognition for their exceptional performance and initiative.

Miano's next career move was to Nokia, where they served as the Head of Finance & Business Control for Sub-Saharan Africa. Michael was responsible for financial controls, market share growth, customer credit, variance, operating expense, and governance. Michael also played a crucial role in implementing global strategies aligned with technological changes and drove various projects to enhance market share, improve business efficiency, and foster a culture of return on investment.

Following their experience at Nokia, Miano joined Microsoft South Africa as the Head of Finance & Business Control for Mobile Devices in Sub-Saharan Africa. In this role, they had overall responsibility for Mobile Devices finance and business controls across the region. Michael actively participated in the integration and transition project after Microsoft's acquisition of Nokia.

Miano's most recent professional experience is as the Chief Financial Officer at HMD Global since December 2016.

Michael also completed a Bachelor of Science (Bsc. IBA) degree with a major in Finance at the same institution from 2000 to 2002. In 2012, they briefly attended GIBS Business School (Gordon Institute of Business Science) to participate in the Nokia Advanced Leadership Programme.
