Tero Honkanen

Tero Honkanen has a wide range of work experience in diverse roles and industries. Currently, they work as a Software Developer at HMD Global. In this role, they are responsible for backend software development and testing in the area of Security and Enterprise Software.

Prior to their current position, Tero worked as an Intern Software Developer at HMD Global's Tampere RD Centre. Tero'sresponsibilities included backend software development and testing.

Before joining HMD Global, Tero worked at Infratek Finland Oy as a Power Distribution Designer. Tero was responsible for electrical network planning, including low and medium voltage network design, site planning, permitting, material procurement, and construction supervision.

Tero gained significant experience at Accenture Services Oy, where they served as a System Specialist and Project Manager. Tero led a team in the development and maintenance of Nokia Symbian camera, still imaging, and video middleware software components. Tero also facilitated knowledge transfer and provided technical support for sales personnel.

Tero's extensive experience with Nokia spanned several roles. As a Project Manager and Senior Project Manager, they led the camera middleware software development team for Nokia Symbian camera phone products. Tero also served as a Manager and Technology Team Lead. In addition, they worked as a Chief Engineer and Project Team Leader, where they were responsible for video telephony software development and led a team in the development of Symbian OS still imaging and public camera API software.

Before their tenure at Nokia, Tero began their career at Tampere University of Technology as a Research Assistant and later became a Researcher. During this time, they conducted research in speech coding algorithm development and standardization, including GSM half-rate and enhanced full-rate codecs. Tero also led a team in speech and audio enhancement algorithm research for mobile and high-quality audio devices.

Overall, Tero Honkanen has a diverse and extensive work experience primarily in software development and engineering roles in the telecommunications industry.

Tero Honkanen pursued continuing education at Tampere University from 2020 to 2021, focusing on modern SW technologies, data analysis, and AI. Prior to that, from 1986 to 1992, Tero obtained a MSc (with honors) in Electrical Engineering from Tampere University of Technology. During their time at the university, their major subjects were Digital Signal and Processing, Applied Electronics, and computer science.
