Vanja Smokvina is an accomplished academic and legal professional with extensive experience in sports law and policy. Currently serving at the University of Rijeka, Faculty of Law, as the Holder of the Jean Monnet Chair in EU Sports Law Policy & Diplomacy and as Editor-in-Chief of the Sports Law, Policy and Diplomacy Journal, Vanja also leads the Institute of Sports Law, Sports Policy and Sports Diplomacy. Additional roles include Associate Professor, Vice Dean for Professional Study Affairs, and previously, a research assistant and post-doc position. Vanja holds arbitrator positions at the Court of Arbitration for Sport and the Croatian Football Federation Arbitration Tribunal. In recent roles, Vanja has been engaged with UEFA as Session Director for the Football Law Programme and serves as President of the Appeal Body for the NOC of Croatia. With a robust educational background including a PhD in Law Sciences and a Bachelor of Science in Law from the University of Rijeka, Vanja Smokvina's expertise significantly contributes to the field of sports law in Europe.
