Chris Giles

Director - IT Security & System Administration at Homewood Health Centre

Chris Giles has extensive work experience in the field of IT. Chris started their career in 1997 as an Administrative Assistant and Computer Aide for The Corporation of the Town of Carleton Place, where they provided internet and computer training to staff and updated the AS400 database with municipal tax and waste collection information.

In 2001, Chris joined Homewood Health Centre as a Senior Network Analyst. Chris was responsible for supporting 1000 users and 500 computer systems, as well as installing and troubleshooting network, server, hardware, and software requests. Chris also maintained virtual and physical servers.

In 2013, Chris was promoted to the position of Manager - Networks and System Administration at Homewood Health Centre. In this role, they managed a national IT infrastructure and a team of 10 staff members. Chris also worked on large, complex technology projects and developed business cases for the executive team.

Most recently, Chris has taken on the role of Director - IT Security & System Administration at Homewood Health Centre. Chris is responsible for developing and implementing IT network and security systems. Chris oversees the Homewood national IT infrastructure, ensuring the security and safeguarding of Homewood systems.

Chris Giles completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and History from the University of Guelph in 2000. In 2001, they obtained a Network and Internet Systems Specialist Diploma from the Toronto School of Business. Chris also attended Carleton Place High School from 1991 to 1996. In 2010, Chris earned a Certificate in Project Management from Ryerson University. Additionally, they obtained several certifications, including VMware Certified Associate - Data Center Virtualization from VMware in 2013, Apple Certified Associate from Apple in 2012, Certified Novell Administrator from Novell in 2001, and Microsoft Certified Professional from Microsoft in 2001.
