Piyush Gupta

Piyush Gupta is a scientist at Honda Research Institute USA, Inc. since May 2022, focusing on researching Large Language Models (LLMs) to improve motion-planning and decision-making in mobility. Piyush has prior experience as a research assistant during doctoral studies at Michigan State University, where contributions included enhancing self-driving vehicle resilience and analyzing human reward responses using advanced reinforcement learning techniques. As a Motion Planning and Controls Lead for the SAE Autodrive Challenge, Piyush designed motion planning and control systems for an autonomous Chevrolet Bolt, achieving notable competition success. Previous roles included R&D engineer positions at Honda R&D Co., Ltd. and experience in engine controls and robotics at AXLR8R Formula Racing and IIT Delhi. Piyush holds a PhD and MS in Electrical Engineering from Michigan State University and a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.
