Liz Fong-Jones has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles and companies. Liz is currently a Field CTO at honeycomb.io since October 2022. Prior to this, they served as a Principal Developer Advocate at honeycomb.io from February 2019 to October 2022.

Before joining honeycomb.io, Liz worked at Google for a significant part of their career. Their roles at Google included Staff Developer Advocate from August 2018 to January 2019, Staff Site Reliability Engineer from July 2017 to August 2018, Site Reliability Engineering Manager from June 2015 to June 2017, and Senior Site Reliability Engineer from May 2011 to May 2015. Liz also started their career at Google as a Site Reliability Engineer, providing on-call support for internal applications and leading various technical initiatives, from January 2008 to May 2011.

In addition to their roles at honeycomb.io and Google, Liz worked as a Teaching Assistant at MIT for the academic year 2012-2013, and at the California Institute of Technology as a Lead Sysadmin for the undergraduate computer science cluster and an Undergraduate Research Fellow from February 2006 to January 2008. Liz also gained experience as a Technical Operations Manager at Three Rings Design, focusing on programming and technical support for Puzzle Pirates from March 2005 to January 2008. Liz briefly worked as a Contract Software Engineer at Demidec in June and August 2005, and as a Systems Administrator at College Preparatory Mathematics from June 2004 to August 2005.

Overall, Liz Fong-Jones has a broad range of experience in developer advocacy, site reliability engineering, teaching, sysadmin, and software engineering roles, with a focus on scaling infrastructure, technical support, and improving performance and security.

Liz Fong-Jones pursued their education at various prestigious institutions. Liz attended Caltech from 2005 to 2008, where they focused on the fields of Biology and Computer Science. Liz later studied at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) from 2010 to 2011 as a Special Student, further developing their expertise in Computer Science. Liz then completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Computer Science at MIT from 2011 to 2014.
