Taurin Barrera is an accomplished music technology educator and interactive multimedia artist with extensive experience in academia and creative coding. Currently serving as an Associate Professor of Music Technology at Hong Kong Baptist University, Taurin previously held various roles at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, including Executive Director and Professor in the Technology and Applied Composition Program. Courses taught range from musical application development to electronic music performance practices. Additional experience includes instructing at the Gray Area Foundation for the Arts and an interactive arts practice through taurindb. Taurin has also contributed to the University of the Pacific and Mills College, integrating software composition and electronic arts into the curriculum. Holding a Master of Fine Arts in Electronic Music & Recording Media from Mills College and a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Hispanic Studies from William & Mary, Taurin has a strong academic foundation complemented by hands-on experience in diverse creative environments.
