Zain Khalpey

Zain Khalpey, MD, PhD, FACS, currently serves as Chief Medical AI Officer, Chair of Applied Clinical AI, and Director of the Khalpey AI Lab at ATARI AI since August 2024, alongside roles as Adjunct Assistant Professor of Surgery at Columbia University Irving Medical Center and Assistant Attending Surgeon at NY Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia Campus. With expertise in cardiothoracic surgery, Zain has held significant positions including Director of Artificial Heart, MCS & ECMO, and Network Director of Artificial Intelligence at HonorHealth since February 2022, and previously Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery and Chief Medical AI Officer at Northwest Medical Center. Zain's academic background includes a clinical fellowship at Harvard Medical School and an acclaimed tenure as Associate Professor in Cardiothoracic Surgery and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Arizona. Educational qualifications encompass a Ph.D. in Cardiothoracic Surgery, MRCS (Eng), AFRCS(I), and an MD/M.B.,B.S. degree, complemented by extensive clinical and research experiences in cardiac transplantation and regenerative medicine.
