Gareth Potts

Gareth Potts is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science and Global Studies at Hood College, where teaching began in August 2021. Additionally, Gareth serves as Adjunct Faculty in the same department. Since May 2014, Gareth has been the Founder of The New Barn-Raising, a network focused on sustaining community and civic assets. Previous academic roles include Adjunct Faculty in World Geography at Howard Community College and teaching the Multicultural Cities course at Virginia Tech. Gareth's professional experience includes positions such as Senior Economic Development Associate at the International Economic Development Council and Senior Urban and Social Policy Fellow at the French-American Foundation United States. Gareth holds a PhD in Economic Geography from Newcastle University and a Master's degree in Civic Design from the University of Liverpool.
