Karla Barfoot

Karla Barfoot currently serves as the Director of Strategic Communications at HOOPP (Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan) since January 2025. Prior to this role, Karla held various positions at OPTrust from May 2017 to January 2025, including Manager of Communications, Communications Advisor for Brand & Design, and Communication Specialist. Karla's earlier experience includes serving as an Associate of Communications at Brookfield Asset Management, where responsibilities involved strategic planning and corporate messaging, alongside roles in marketing coordination and executive assistance. Karla began their career as an Account Representative at Ice River Springs Water Co. Inc., providing customer service to major corporate clients. Academically, Karla holds a degree in Business Communications from Toronto Metropolitan University and a diploma in Business Administration from Conestoga College, in addition to coursework at OCAD University.
