Mbacham Walter is an accomplished leader in risk management and organizational development with extensive experience across several financial institutions in Africa. Currently serving as the Managing Director of HOPE Congo since May 2023, Mbacham has successfully driven the organization to its first sustained profitability in over five years within just eight months. Prior to this role, Mbacham held key positions at Groupe Baobab, including Chief Risk Officer for Baobab Senegal, where significant improvements in credit risk recovery were achieved. Mbacham also contributed to the growth of the group as a Group Risk Senior Manager, overseeing risk strategies for multiple subsidiaries across Africa. Earlier experience includes roles at Accion, BGFIBank Cameroun, and EB-ACCION, where Mbacham established risk management frameworks and led operational controls. Educational qualifications include a Master's degree in Leadership in Sustainable Finance from Frankfurt School of Finance & Management and postgraduate and undergraduate degrees from the University of Yaounde II in Banking and Finance, and Economics, respectively.
