Carl M. Humphries has been CEO at HopeHealth since September 2000. Prior to that, they were a social worker and communicable disease supervisor at DHEC from September 1994 to September 2000. In their role as social worker, they provided comprehensive social work services, including individual and family counseling, to persons affected by HIV. Carl also developed, implemented, and facilitated support groups. As HIV Team Leader, they managed the development, implementation, and evaluation of the district HIV program. Carl supervised staff, led team meetings, and coordinated with physicians to achieve maximum health outcomes for clients at the Ryan White clinic. Carl also coordinated with DHEC central office and other local and statewide community providers to enhance service provision. In addition, they served as Chairperson of the Tri-County Interagency AIDS Coalition and the Bamberg County HIV Prevention Collaboration. Carl also served as Vice-chairperson of the Orangeburg County HIV Prevention Collaboration. Carl served on the Ryan White Peer Review Committee and the Annual HIV/STD Conference Planning Committee from 1996-1998. As Communicable Disease Supervisor, they continued to perform the duties of HIV Team Leader, with the expanded role of supervision over the TB and disease intervention programs. Carl was responsible for a team of 12 staff on the adult health unit and a budget of approximately $500,000 from Ryan White titles II, III, and IV, DAODAS, and HOPWA funding sources.

Carl M. Humphries has a BA from the University of South Carolina-Columbia and an MSW from Bethlehem Baptist Christian Academy.
