Julie Tinker

Principal Designer, Equity Innovation at Hopelab

Julie Tinker is the Principal Designer of Equity Innovation at Hopelab. Julie has over fifteen years of experience in design and communications, and has worked with clients in the areas of health and medicine, environmental sustainability, education, and social justice.

Julie founded Tinker Co. in 2009, and served as the company's Chief Creative Officer for ten years. Tinker Co. is a full-service design and communications studio that develops powerful solutions to complicated problems. Recent work has included animations about breakthrough research in cancer for the nation's premier public medical school, building a call-to-action campaign around disclosing toxins in common household products, and developing an app to decrease the rate of teen pregnancy across California.

Before founding Tinker Co., Julie worked as a designer at Empax, and as a producer at Free Range - Design and Innovation. Julie also served as a Design Advisor at YTH from 2016 to 2019.

Julie Tinker earned their Master's Degree in Sociology from Stanford University. Julie then went on to earn their MFA in Design from the School of Visual Arts. Lastly, they earned their Bachelor's degree in Communication from Stanford University.
