Deana Darling has a diverse work experience. Deana began their career in 1996 as an Elementary Teacher in the Rochester City School District, where they worked until 2002. Deana then joined Nazareth College in 2001, initially as an Adjunct Faculty in the Department of Inclusive Childhood Education, and later became a Clinical Assistant Professor/Visiting Instructor. Deana also served as the Coordinator of the Professional Semester from 2009 to 2011. In 2011, they became the Executive Director of Horizons at Nazareth - Nazareth College, a role they held until 2014. Deana then worked with the NYS Supporting Effective Educator Development Grant from 2014 to 2015 as a Member of the NYS SEED Grant Team, focusing on increasing the number of National Board Certified Teachers in high-needs districts in New York State through network improvement theory. Deana also worked with Horizons National as a Consultant - Affiliate Curriculum Specialist from 2014 to 2015 before becoming the Senior Director of Program Support and Innovation, a position they still hold.
Deana Darling pursued their education in a structured and chronological manner. Deana completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in History/Political Science from the University of Rochester, where they attended from 1987 to 1991. Following their undergraduate studies, Deana went on to pursue a Masters of Science degree in Elementary Education and Teaching at Nazareth University. Deana completed their graduate studies at Nazareth University from 1992 to 1995, furthering their expertise in the field.
