Elizabeth Schwyzer Smith

Elizabeth Schwyzer Smith is a psychotherapist currently in private practice at Parkford Counseling Associates since January 2024. In addition, Elizabeth serves as a bereavement trainee and therapist at Hospice of Santa Barbara, Inc. since October 2022. Elizabeth has extensive experience in writing coaching and consulting, working with adolescent and adult writers on nonfiction projects from August 2013 to January 2020. Previous roles include Arts & Entertainment Editor at Palo Alto Weekly and Arts Writer at The Santa Barbara Independent. Elizabeth has also contributed to education as a writing center tutor at Santa Barbara City College and an English and creative writing instructor at Santa Barbara Middle School. Elizabeth's academic background includes a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University Santa Barbara, a Bachelor's degree in History of Art from the University of California, Berkeley, and an MFA in Writing and Literature from Bennington Writing Seminars.
