Gonçalo MacEdo Leal

Gonçalo Macedo Leal has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and companies. Gonçalo currently serves as the Deputy Director of Operations in Radiology and Nuclear Medicine at Hospital da Luz, starting in July 2022. In this position, they manage operations, including HR, workflow, and business unit control. Gonçalo also ensures the recording and processing of departmental information and collaborates with other departments.

Prior to this role, Leal worked at Luz Saúde from 2009 onwards. Gonçalo held multiple positions within the company, including Medical Imaging Business Manager, Head of Radiation Protection, Healthcare Business Process Manager, Healthcare Innovation Manager, and Operational Support (Information Systems). As the Medical Imaging Business Manager, their responsibilities included managing the diagnostic imaging departments of the Luz Saúde group and participating in feasibility studies for new healthcare facilities. Gonçalo also oversaw quality certification and hospital accreditation processes.

Before joining Luz Saúde, Leal had brief experience at Siemens Healthineers as an Applications Specialist, providing technical support for various health information systems and conducting training for healthcare professionals.

Additionally, Leal has worked as a lecturer and conducted graduate work in Biomedical Engineering Advanced Studies at Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia da Universidade Nova de Lisboa.

Gonçalo Macedo Leal has a diverse education history, with a focus on business administration and technology. Gonçalo obtained their Engineer's degree in Biomedical Engineering from the NOVA School of Science and Technology in 2008, followed by a Master's degree in the same field from the same institution in 2008. In 2020, they also completed an Advanced Intensive Course in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science for Health Professionals at Instituto Superior Técnico.

To further enhance their business skills, Leal pursued an Executive MBA program at The Lisbon MBA Católica | Nova from 2021 to 2023. Gonçalo also attended various advanced intensive courses to broaden their knowledge in specific areas. In 2022, they completed the Disciplined Entrepreneurship Program at the MIT Sloan School of Management.

In 2023, Leal further expanded their expertise by attending advanced intensive courses in different institutions. At ESADE, they completed courses on Managing Innovation and Collaboration for Growth, Fintech and Financial Services. Gonçalo also attended an advanced intensive course on Managing Digital Product Creation at the University of St.Gallen.

Leal has also pursued additional certifications to supplement their education. Gonçalo obtained a Circular MarkStrat Business Simulation certification from StratX Simulations in April 2023. In November 2022, they completed a Radiation Protection Officer certification from APA - Agência Portuguesa do Ambiente. In 2021, they obtained a Certificate of Completion from Marketplace Simulations.

Outside of their academic and professional pursuits, Leal has attained certifications in sports instruction and teaching. Gonçalo holds a Sports Instructor certification in Judo from the Instituto Português do Desporto e Juventude, IP, obtained in December 2013. Additionally, they hold a CCP - Teacher Training Certificate from IEFP, earned in January 2011.

Leal is also a member of the Portuguese Order of Engineers, further highlighting their professional qualifications.
