Cham John Paulsen

John Paulsen, CHAM, has an extensive work experience in the hospitality industry. John has held various senior management positions in renowned organizations. Currently, John is the Senior Vice President at Hotel Asset Value Enhancement (hotelAVE), where they provide asset management and advisory services to owners, investors, and lenders of hospitality assets. Prior to this, they served as the Vice President at hotelAVE.

In addition to their work at hotelAVE, John is an Adjunct Professor at New York University, where they teach graduate-level classes on Hotel Management Fundamentals. John has also taught classes on Hotel Operations Analysis and Strategy Formulation at NYU Preston Robert Tisch Center for Hospitality, Tourism, and Sports Management.

Before joining hotelAVE and NYU, John was the Senior Vice President of Asset Management at GB Lodging, LLC. In this role, they oversaw the asset management function and was responsible for hotel profitability, operations analysis, hotel openings, due diligence for new properties, and all aspects relating to the hotel's performance.

Prior to GB Lodging, John worked for Tishman Hotel Corporation as the First Vice President from 2003 to 2014. John also had a role at St. Regis Hotel as the Director of Six Sigma and as Hotel Manager. Before that, they worked at Sheraton New York as the Director of Housekeeping and Property Operations, at The Roosevelt Hotel, New York City as the Director of Front Office Operations, at The Macklowe Hotel as the Director of Front Office Operations, at Millennium Broadway as the Director of Front Office, and at Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts as the Director of Housekeeping.

John's diverse and extensive work experience showcases their expertise in hotel asset management, operations analysis, property openings, and overall hotel performance management. John has contributed to the success of numerous hotels throughout their career, making him a valuable asset in the hospitality industry.

John Paulsen, CHAM, has a strong education background in the hospitality industry. John obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in Hospitality Industry Studies from New York University, where they studied from 2004 to 2009. Prior to that, they graduated with a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Hotel & Restaurant Management from the University of Houston, where they attended from 1983 to 1986. Their education journey started at Grove City College in 1979, where they studied Business Administration for a year. Although the degree obtained from Grove City College is not specified, it is evident that John Paulsen has a solid foundation in business administration and is well-prepared for a successful career in the hospitality industry.
