Ramon Mejia

Transport Engineering Manager at Hotwire Communications

Ramon Mejia has extensive experience in the telecommunications and media industry, with a focus on technology and project management. Ramon has held various leadership roles throughout their career.

Starting in 1997, Mejia worked as the Manager of MIS/IT at SkyLA, where they led the company's IT department and provided support for LATAM sites. Ramon managed IT operations, including infrastructure and end-user support.

In 2002, Mejia joined DIRECTV Latin America/SKYLA as the Director of Broadcast Engineering. In this role, they oversaw all technical aspects of the broadcast uplink center, post-production, and IT. Ramon led a team of 21 engineers and staff, ensuring high service availability for over 200 channels.

From 2006 to 2010, Mejia worked as the Director of Operations and Engineering at IPTV Americas, a startup focused on delivering digital content to telecommunications and media operators in Latin America. Ramon spearheaded the deployment of an IPTV ecosystem and video head-end, collaborating with hardware, software, and telecom services providers.

At HBO Latin America, Mejia served as the Director of Information Technology from 2010 to 2014. Ramon managed IT operations for the LATAM and Florida business units, overseeing infrastructure, client services, and high-availability data centers. Ramon transformed the teams into a more structured IT organization and improved user satisfaction through process standardization and system simplification.

Mejia then joined Univision Communications Inc. in 2014 as an ETS Project Manager before moving to Cable & Wireless Communications as the Head of Engineering, TV, Policy, and Content. In this role, they introduced IPTV/OTT to The Bahamas and designed and deployed an integrated TV solution.

From 2015 to 2017, Mejia worked as the Director of Information Technology at MundoMax Broadcast, where they managed IT operations, led SAP data migration and integration projects, and oversaw project delivery and vendor relationships.

Ramon then served as an Independent Telecom and Video Strategy Consultant at Massy Technologies InfoCom in 2015 before joining Worldmedia Consulting as a Senior Consultant for Entertainment Products and Projects in 2017.

Most recently, Mejia has been working at Hotwire Communications Ltd since 2018. Ramon started as a Technical Project Manager, where they played a key role in launching new properties and delivering IPTV to hotels and multi-dwelling communities. Ramon then transitioned to the role of IT Program Delivery Manager, responsible for managing IT programs and ensuring successful delivery. Currently, they hold the position of Transport Engineering Manager.

Ramon Mejia has a strong education background in both business and engineering. Ramon obtained their MBA with a focus on Management Information Systems (MIS) from the Florida International University - College of Business between 2004 and 2007. Prior to that, they completed a MSc in Engineering Management at Florida International University from 1999 to 2002. In their earlier years, between 1982 and 1986, Ramon studied Electronic Engineering at the Universidad Nacional de Ingeniería (NI).

In addition to their formal education, Ramon has also obtained certifications to further enhance their skills. In 2004, they received the Project Management Professional certification from the Project Management Institute. Later in 2014, they became a Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) through ScrumAlliance.
