Jakob Locke is a Family Outreach Specialist at Housing Matters, where responsibilities include assisting families experiencing homelessness and serving as the main contact for all inquiries. Previously, Jakob worked at the University of California, Santa Cruz, in various roles including Community Engagement Intern, where support was provided to enhance relations between the university and the local community, Student Resource Coordinator for the Student Union Assembly, and Student Life and University Guide in the Admissions Office. Jakob holds a Bachelor's degree in Politics and Sociology from the University of California, Santa Cruz, earned in 2022.

Formerly known as Homeless Services Center, Housing Matters is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit and the largest local organization addressing homelessness in Santa Cruz County. Our mission is to partner with individuals and families to create pathways out of homelessness into permanent housing. Donor contributions support our emergency shelter programs (including housing navigation and placement), personalized case management, day services with showers and bathrooms open to the public, on-site supportive services, and the construction of permanent supportive housing—now underway—for our unhoused neighbors most in need.
