Madeline Burillo-Hopkins is the Vice President of Workforce Instruction & President Southwest College at Houston Community College. Madeline has been with Houston Community College since January 2011, and in their current role since September 2015. Prior to that, they served as the Associate Vice Chancellor of Workforce Instruction and the Associate Vice Chancellor of Extended Learning.
Madeline has been working in education and training for over 30 years. Madeline began their career as a Director at Texas School of Business in 1986, and then moved to Lone Star College as the Director of Student and Business Services in 1996. In 1997, they became the Director of Skills E.T.C., and then returned to higher education in 1999 as the Director of Continuing Education and Corporate Training at Houston Community College.
Madeline is committed to providing quality education and training opportunities for all students. Under their leadership, the Division of Extended Learning at Houston Community College has grown significantly, offering more than 600 online courses and serving over 10,000 students each year. Madeline has also developed innovative programs like the ACT Center, which provides academic and career counseling to adult learners.
Madeline holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master’s degree in Counseling from Sam Houston State University.
Madeline Burillo-Hopkins has a Doctor of Education from Sam Houston State University, a Master of Arts from the University of Phoenix, and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Puerto Rico - Cayey.
