Katie Niemann

Katie Niemann, CISSP, has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning various roles and industries. Starting in 2002, they worked as a Part-Time Floor Staff at the Fort Worth Museum Science and History. In 2004, they joined the Houston Zoo as a Volunteer Programs Coordinator and later transitioned to the role of Director of Admissions and Communications at The Emery/Weiner School in 2006. In 2009, Katie became the Marketing and Admissions Manager at the North America Corporate Office of World Class Learning Group.

From 2012 to 2019, Katie served in different positions at the Houston Zoo, starting as the Director of Interactive Marketing, where they led web, social media, and digital marketing efforts. Katie then transitioned to a more senior role as the Senior Director of Technology, overseeing IT infrastructure, systems, and support. During their tenure, Katie led the digital strategy for the organization, implemented a successful technology strategic plan, and managed the IT components of a long-term campus-wide master plan.

Since 2019, Katie has been with Houston Endowment, initially as the Director of Information Technology and later taking on the role of Director of IT and Building Operations. Katie Niemann, CISSP, has a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Ancient History and Psychology. Katie obtained this degree from The University of Texas at Austin, where they studied from 1998 to 2002. Following their undergraduate studies, Katie pursued a Master of Humanities degree with a concentration in Ancient Cultures from The University of Dallas. Katie attended this institution from 2002 to 2003. In addition to their academic qualifications, Katie has obtained multiple certifications, including the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) from (ISC)² in August 2021. Katie also holds certifications such as LEED Green Associate from the U.S. Green Building Council, IT Information Library Foundations Certification from PeopleCert, and Inbound Marketing Certification from HubSpot Academy.
