Christopher Sparks

Christopher Sparks, MPA, MPH, RS, CPH, currently serves as the Bureau Chief at the Houston Health Department, overseeing the Bureau of Consumer Health Services since February 2023, providing expertise in various public health programs. Previously, Christopher held the position of Chief Sanitarian for the City of Houston from August 2016 to February 2023, where responsibilities included managing inspections for thousands of food establishments and recommending policy improvements. Prior experience also includes a role as Policy, Standards, and Quality Assurance Manager at the Texas Department of State Health Services, focusing on public sanitation and retail food safety. Christopher's early career includes positions as a Health Physicist and Public Health Sanitarian. Christopher holds multiple advanced degrees in Public Health and Public Administration, alongside a Bachelor's degree in Microbiology and a certificate in Hemodialysis Technology.
