Melinda Liu

Beijing Bureau Chief at Newsweek

Melinda Liu serves as Vice President at RASBJ since November 2017, overseeing events that promote Chinese culture, history, and society. Concurrently, Liu has been the Beijing Bureau Chief for Newsweek since 1998, managing China coverage and online platforms, while previously serving as Diplomatic Correspondent and Asia Regional Editor at the publication. Liu's extensive journalism career includes significant reporting on major conflicts and events across Asia and beyond. Additionally, Liu co-directed the documentary "The Doolittle Raiders: A China Story" and held the position of Events Director and Archivist at the Royal Asiatic Society in Beijing from 2013 to 2017. Liu's educational background includes a B.A. in Sociology from Harvard University and intensive Mandarin language training at Taiwan Normal University.
