Shellisa Houston Martin

VP, Chief Nursing Officer at Houston Healthcare

Prior to joining Houston Healthcare, Shellisa Houston Martin started began her career as a Patient Care Technician in 1996, followed by growth into a Nurse Extern then served as Medical/Surgical Resource/Charge Nurse and House Supervisor for Wellstar Health Systems for over 10 years. She also worked as an Emergency Room nurse for 2 years and an Ambulatory/Outpatient Surgery nurse at Henry Medical Center. When Shellisa joined Houston Healthcare in May 2010, she was hired as the Nurse Manager for the Orthopedic/General Surgery Unit 5 Northwest, GYN Surgical Unit 2 North, and the Wound Care Department. Shellisa has been responsible for clinical, operational and financial leadership for nursing and clinical inpatient and outpatient services for Houston Medical Center as the Director of Nursing since August 2015.

Shellisa has received honors and awards throughout her nursing career such as “Best of the Best” Nursing Leader and Outstanding Clinical Nurse Leader Award. Shellisa completed her Bachelor’s in Nursing at the University of Toledo in 2000, Master of Science in Nursing Leadership & Management from Western Governor’s University in 2013, and Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Management from Western Governor’s University in 2015.
