Lisa Trapani Shumate

Lisa Trapani Shumate has a diverse work experience in the media industry. Lisa Trapani started their career in 1991 at ABC13 Houston, where they held various marketing positions. Lisa Trapani then worked as the Executive Director of Belo Media Solutions from 2002 to 2004. From 2005 to 2011, Lisa served as the Director of Programming & Marketing at KHOU-TV. In 2011, they joined Houston Public Media as the Associate Vice President & General Manager, responsible for leading the organization's broadcasting and digital assets. Lisa also serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Houston's C.T. Bauer College of Business since 2022. Additionally, they hold board positions at PBS and American Public Television. Lisa Trapani co-authored the book "You Got This: The Real Skills You Need For Career Success" while working at Wiley from 2019 to 2021.

Lisa Trapani Shumate earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Communications from Loyola University New Orleans. Lisa Trapani then went on to earn a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with a specialization in Global Leadership from the University of Houston. Recently, in 2020, they completed a program in Leadership Coaching at Rice Business - Jones Graduate School of Business. In August 2021, they obtained the Associate Certified Coach (ACC) certification from the International Coaching Federation.
