Kristen Harper is the Senior Director of Human Resources for the Houston Rockets. Kristen has over fifteen years of experience in Human Resources, and has been with the Rockets for six years. Prior to their current position, they were the Vice President of Human Resources for First Service Credit Union from 2007 to 2011. In that role, they were responsible for all HR functions and operations for 100+ employees with 15 locations throughout Houston, including legal and compliance, benefits and Retirement Plan Administration, training and development, recruitment and compensation, and employee relations. Kristen played a key role in organizing a reduction-in-force of 20 employees with planning, coordinating and presenting to employees. Kristen also played a key role in merging another credit union within our organization and successfully added 50 employees to our existing structure. Kristen is a strategic participant in annual strategic planning and development of mission, vision, values and goals for the organization. Kristen has developed sound human resource policies and directed and coordinated human resource activities such as recruitment and employment, compensation, benefits, training, and employee relations. Kristen ensures effective communication to staff of policies and follow up with management for documentation of policy infringements. Kristen analyzes and recommends changes in wages and benefits to CEO to remain competitive with industry standards. Kristen also develops and distributes directives to managers of company policy and employment law as it relates to human resource issues. In addition, they develop, implements and monitors short and long term goals for the department. Kristen has fostered a teamwork/ open-door environment conducive to positive dialogue across the organization. Kristen has also trained management team on interviewing techniques and employee relations, conducting workshops and one-on-one coaching sessions that contributed to sound hiring decisions and better relationships. Kristen maintains close contact with benefits broker regarding usage and issues to ensure an effective program for the employees; provided periodic communication to staff regarding such. Lastly, they maintained employee manual and annual review covering issues including disciplinary procedures, code of conduct, FMLA policy, attendance and other pertinent policies.

Kristen Harper has a Bachelor's in Healthcare Administration from Texas State University. Kristen also has a Master's in Human Resources and a Master's degree from Texas State University.
