Freeke Heijne is an experienced legal professional currently serving as a Plv. lid College van Afgevaardigden at the Nederlandse orde van advocaten since March 2023. With a tenure at Houthoff beginning in August 2009 as a lawyer and counsel in Public Law and Regulated Markets, Freeke has also worked as a visiting lawyer. In addition, Freeke contributed to Pro Bono Connect's Advisory Board from June 2016 to June 2021, facilitating collaborations between NGOs and law firms. Involvement as a Member of the Circuit of Advisors at NEMO from November 2015 to October 2019 focused on engaging young entrepreneurs and startups with science and technology. Previous roles include a young board member at the Amsterdam Economic Board, assistant researcher at the COT Institute, participant/researcher at the Amsterdam International Law Clinic, and assistant attaché for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the Netherlands' Permanent Mission to the United Nations. Freeke holds multiple advanced degrees, including an LL.M in International Criminal Law and Laws of War from Utrecht University and an LL.M in European Law from Université Panthéon-Assas.
