Larry Gallagher

Larry Gallagher is a seasoned research specialist currently working at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute since February 2021, where contributions include being a senior scientist in the microbiology lab and achieving the first genetic manipulation of a Candidate Phyla Radiation bacterium, a work published in Cell. Additionally, since 2003, Larry Gallagher has held the title of senior research scientist at the University of Washington, focusing on developing novel genome-scale technologies such as Tn-seq and TFN-seq, while applying advanced molecular biology techniques to critical research areas like bacterial physiology and antibiotic resistance. Larry Gallagher also serves as a lecturer, teaching an advanced undergraduate microbial genetics course that accommodates 100 students.
