Rob Svirskas is a Principal Staff Bioinformatician at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute since October 2006, based at the Janelia Farm Research Campus in Ashburn, VA. Between September 1997 and 2008, Rob also contributed as a Principal Staff Bioinformatician for the Berkeley Drosophila Genome Project, along with intermittent roles as a Guest Bioinformatician at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Additionally, Rob worked as a Staff Scientist at GE Healthcare from July 2002 to September 2006, and prior to that, had a long tenure at Motorola from 1988 to 2002, holding various positions as a Software Engineer, notably within the Paging Products Group and BioChip Systems. Rob holds a B.S. in Computer Science from Florida Atlantic University, completed in 1988.
