Madhu Ayyagari, PhD, serves as the Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice President of Global R&D at HOYA Surgical Optics since June 2022. In addition, Madhu Ayyagari holds a position on the Board of Directors at the Braille Institute of America as of January 2024. Previously, Madhu Ayyagari was Vice President of Global R&D at Bausch + Lomb from April 2017 to May 2022, leading the R&D portfolio strategy and overseeing the development and launch of various ophthalmic medical devices. Madhu Ayyagari's extensive career includes various executive roles within Surgical R&D at Bausch + Lomb from 1998 to 2017, a National Research Council Fellowship at the US Army Natick Soldier Research, Development, and Engineering Center from 1994 to 1997, and a staff scientist position at UMass Lowell from 1992 to 1994. Academically, Madhu Ayyagari earned an MBA from the University of Rochester's Simon Business School, a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Tulane University, an ME in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Science, and a Bachelor of Technology in Chemical Engineering from Osmania University.
