Sapan Shah’s background includes a range of experience in entrepreneurship, medicine, law, insurance, angel investing and politics. Sapan is the Managing Partner of Alera Group’s HPL Division and a Board Director of Alera Group, a national insurance and financial services firm. Sapan joined Alera in 2017 when Alera acquired Flagship Healthcare, which he co-founded in 2007.
Sapan also serves on the Board of Advisors for the Burke Neurological Institute of Weill Cornell Medicine in White Plains, NY and on the Board of Directors of the Civic Federation, a non-partisan government research organization in Chicago.
Sapan is an active Angel Investor in Hyde Park Angels (HPA), having invested in 40+ startups overall. He is on the Board of Directors of Kaizen Health, a Board observer for Blueprint, and was previously a Board Director for Regroup therapy, all HPA healthcare portfolio companies.
Previously, Sapan ran for US Congress in Illinois’ Tenth Congressional District on a platform of financial discipline, inclusion, and term limits. Sapan lives in Libertyville, IL with his wife, Rachna Shah, M.D., an allergist in private practice.
