Robert McFarlane

Robert McFarlane is currently the Director at HSBC Canada. Prior to this, they served as the Deputy-Chair of the Board and Chair of Audit & Risk Committee at RSA Canada from January 2005 to June 2019. Robert was also responsible for overseeing the divestiture of commercial brokerage subsidiary Noraxis Capital Corporation for $500M. From November 2000 to December 2012, McFarlane served as the Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer at TELUS where they were responsible for the financial health and efficiency of TELUS’ $11B annual revenue business, $20B balance sheet, $2B annual capital expenditure program and $7B pension investment management function.

Robert McFarlane's educational career includes completing the Directors Education Program at the Institute of Corporate Directors - Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto. Robert also has a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) Honours from Queen's University and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Western University. In addition, they have certification from the Smith School of Business at Queen's University in the Institute for Sustainable Finance Sustainable Investing Program, as well as certification from Competent Boards in both the ESG Global Competent Boards Designation and The Global ESG Competent Boards Designation (GCB.D).
