Karen Twyford is a seasoned educator and healthcare professional with extensive experience in both teaching and patient care. Twyford served as a Spanish Teacher at Highland Community School District #5 from August 1997 until retirement after 33 years and previously taught at Columbia High School from 1991 to 1997. In addition to a successful teaching career, Twyford has worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant and Patient Care Tech at HSHS St. Joseph's Hospital Highland since February 2019. Twyford holds a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Language and Literature from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and a Master of Arts in Teaching in Social Sciences from Webster University.
