Stephen Bates is a seasoned technology leader with extensive experience in emerging storage systems and algorithm development. Currently serving as VP and Chief Architect of Emerging Storage Systems at Huawei, Stephen leads a research team focused on advanced technologies including NVMe and CXL. Additionally, Stephen is the Chief Consultant and President of Raithlin Semiconductors, while also holding an Adjunct Professor position at the University of Alberta, where expertise lies in digital signal processing and FPGA systems. Previous roles include Chief Technology Officer at Eideticom, Senior Technical Director at Microsemi Corporation and PMC-Sierra, and a founding Board member of Innovate Canmore. Stephen holds a PhD in Signal Processing and a BEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, both from The University of Edinburgh.
