Simon Bonyhady

Simon Bonyhady is a Senior Polymer Scientist at Huber Engineered Materials, where responsibilities include the development of new flame retardant molecules and optimization of synthesis processes since November 2019. Previously, Simon served as a Senior Chemist at LANXESS, focusing on research and development in the Polymer Additives business unit from November 2016 to November 2019. Prior academic experiences include a postdoctoral researcher position at UC Berkeley, where Simon developed first row transition metal complexes for electrocatalytic CO2 reduction, and a postdoctoral fellow role at Yale University, synthesizing first row transition metal diazoalkane complexes. Simon began a career in research as a Graduate Research Assistant at Monash University, where pioneering work on magnesium(I) dimers as reducing agents was conducted. Simon holds a Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry and a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, both from Monash University.
